Want to know how to make your eye color POP!? Let's pick out a color palette for you that brings out the best in those baby blues... or browns, or greens, or hazels.. ;)
***NOTE***
There really are no rules in makeup and you can choose the colors that make you the happiest! These are just some suggestions that will help compliment your eyes.
You can build your own palette with these shadows HERE.
If you found me through the Eyeshadow Academy or through Pinterest you might have seen how I do my eyeshadow and how I do it on my clients. But like I said in the beginning of my eyeshadow academy, there really are NO RULES to makeup. You can follow some guidelines to make your eyes look a certain way but really you can experiment and try lots of different techniques! Here are some quick little videos that take no time at all to learn some different ways to apply that pretty powder.
And that's it!! Hope you enjoyed those! Remember, even these easy ones may differ per your eye shape! Just practice and it will come so easy to you and you'll recognize what works and doesn't for you! But most of all, do what makes you happy!!
You watched that youtuber do her eyeshadow so perfectly and it makes her eyes look AMAZING. Then you try to do it.....
BUT BUT BUT!! You did everything just like she said??? Well even if you primed your eyes correctly (see this post on how to!), you most likely don't have the same eye shape or color as that same person and so it will look a lot different on you than her! This is why you need to be able to pinpoint your eye shape and make sure you know the best tips and tricks for really bringing out those gorgeous baby blues (or browns! or greens! or hazels!!!).
Check out this chart here on some different techniques for a few that I've narrowed down for you. AND keep in mind, you could have a combination of any of these things so it may come in time withpractice but this should be a great place for you to start!
Here are some fun examples for you!
My cute friend here has downturn/monolid eyes so we brought the outer corner up with the darker shades and then created a higher crease for her so all our work didn't get lost once she opened up her eyes.
My gorgeous friend Jennifer has beautiful deep set eyes so we made sure not to take the darkest crease color all the way across so her eyes didn't sink even more back.
Evi has these stunning round and partially hooded eyes so we did a darker color on the outer crease to keep an almond shape and a lighter shimmer all over the lid to show off the lids and open her eyes up a little more!
If you need help identifying your eye shape or with knowing how to do your shadow leave me a comment below and I'd love to point you in the right direction!
Want some palette suggestions for your eye color?? Head over to THIS POST
Struggling to keep your eye shadow looking fly all day? Can't ever get those shadows to blend right? Got creasing??? Well we can probably source that back to how you are prepping your lids before you even dip your brush into that palette.
First tip I can give you is to hydrate! That's right, drink lots of water so you have nicely hydrated eyelids and it will reduce redness and puffiness!
Next thing and probably the most important is to use a PRIMER! Don't skip this step! Look for a primer that helps with your skin type. There are some more matte ones for oily skin, you can find some that are illuminating and shimmery OR what I personally do is use my foundation in a shade just a tad lighter than my skin color and set with a powder. I really like Urban Decay Primer Potion
That brings us to the next step. Setting your primer with a powder will help with a few things: It will soak any oils from your skin up and creates a barrier between you and the eyeshadow so you don't get any creasing. It will help is last all day long AND makes blending your shadows a complete dream!
I personally recommend one of these 3 powders: Laura Mercier translucent powder (MY FAVE - oily or normal to dry skin)
Last but certainly not least, it's important to have good tools that will help you acheive that perfectly blended look. You don't need a huge set of them though! Just a couple of select tools that can multi task for all your needs. Here are my MUST HAVES:
This beauty has a perfect fluffy blending end and a more compact small end for applying more detailed colors. It's truly the only eyeshadow brush I use almost every single day!
It will help you with those detailed areas for eyeshadow, create a perfect cut crease, apply your eyeliner, lip liner and is the absolute perfect brow brush to get those tiny detailed hairs drawn on.
I hope this was helpful for you! Please comment below with any questions!
Quite a few months ago I had an idea, a spark!! I wanted to share with
other women my journey to loving myself again and where it all started.
My sister helped me create a beautiful video featuring my hands (you can read my whole story and see the video here)
Then I realized I needed to share it with some of my favorite moms and treat them to the tropical brunch paradise they deserved!! My good friend Natashia with Canary Jane is an amazing speaker and definitely an awesome motivator agreed to speak AND help with set up and decor. We were able to throw it right before Mother's Day to start off a special weekend the right way!
It was important to me to make the spread luxurious and colorful to transport those moms to a different world!
Also just as important: fruity drinks!! I'm not even sure I could spout out a recipe for these since I totally threw them together last minute but they were SO GOOD. Sparkling Strawberry Pina Colada and Coconut Lime Mojitos. (All virgin of course!). Also Natashia helped decorate the bar with the palm leaves and I'm obsessed with how it looks!!
The cake was inspired from one of my favorite bloggers Aww Sam. She gave the greatest cake hack of ALL TIME in my opinion!! You can take a picture (endless possibilities here!!) to your local grocery store bakery and they can print it on edible rice paper!!! I chose the same wallpaper print Sam shared in her post because it fit my theme perfectly! Also, I cheated and bought two 6" cakes from the same bakery and just took off the extra frosting and wrapped the rice paper around it. I love how it turned out! And in case you were wondering it has coconut chunks on the top!
Cupcakes were also store bought. Oops.. I was really trying to make things easy this time around. But they were SO good. I have a silicone pineapple mold I just poured some melted baking chocolate in and let them set up in the fridge then popped them out and gave each cupcake it's own tropical decor haha.
No one would touch the food at the table because it all looked so good but even after we dove into it, I still loved the vibe it was giving off. I created a whole Pinterest board for charcuterie boards and that is how I came up with everything that is there. Honestly almost everything I got at Costco!
Natashia brought these leaves and tied them around my new Opal House by Target cups! Didn't it turn out so cute?? I'm so in love with details!!
After I convinced everyone that it was okay to actually eat the food in front of them Natashia stood up and told us WHY we are amazing moms. Take a few minutes to watch this video and come on back for a link to her free print!
Here are my reasons I am the best bomb diggity mom!! I actually had a hard time with these! But I just really had to listen to Natashia and push out the negativity! I would love for you to comment below and tell me your reason!! At least one!
After we filled out our papers we gathered in my living room and I shared my story and watched the Hands video together. You can watch it too and read my story here!
Thank you to all the beautiful moms that came and supported me, helped me cut fruit, clean up and a special shout out to my neighbor Becky for showing up with a finished charcuterie board to hold all the food! It is beautiful and was so perfect for the event! Thank you to all of you that have supported me while I share my story and I hope I can help at least a few of you women see your beauty and appreciate what you have. BE LEAF
IN YOU!
It all started with my hands.... About a year ago I thought I was done with postpartum depression. I had started to connect with others and found purpose and started to feel like a normal person again. What I didn’t realize was that my ppd had morphed into something different. My thoughts turned from suicide (thank goodness!) to “why am I so ugly?”, “you’re such a pig for eating that”, “you are SO fat!”, “why can’t you control your eating”, “my gut is so huge”, “all my clothes look so ugly on me”.
It was around Mother’s Day when I started to see some body empowerment posts on Instagram. Moms proudly showing off their c-section scars, stretch marks, saggy skin and saying they loved themselves for what their body could do. I just didn’t get it. I hated my body. I knew i had just had a baby but I still felt like I should look different by then, or at least be on a better path to look different and I couldn’t stop beating myself up about it. I even was saying positive affirmations to myself but I didn’t believe any of it.
One day, I was doing some mundane task, I can’t really remember, maybe it was making a bottle or changing a diaper and I had an epiphany, I loved my hands.
They aren’t perfect hands for modeling or anything but I loved them for what they did. They took care of my children, kept them safe and brought me joy! So I started there. I slowly started to realize how amazing I was starting with my hands.
I hope as you watch this short film you can think about all the good your hands do during your day and realize how amazing and beautiful you truly are.
I know I love to be super transparent about what gifts I like to get,
but not everyone is that way! So I decided to put together a list of
things I'm really crushing on right now that I would absolutely LOVE to
receive for Mother's Day!
Spring is a time for bright colors, a
fresh home and reconnecting with your kids (because you can play with
them outside instead of going crazy inside all day hahahahaha). So here
are some beautiful things you could give to your mom, your mom friend or
yourself!
lover than this is PERFECT for her. Justification is
a favorite pastime for us moms 😜 And you can
now buy this mug online!! These special occasion
mugs haven't been online in the past but due to high
demand they made them available to everyone!! YAY!!!
I hope these have been good ideas for you or has sparked an idea of what to give! Mother's Day is so special to me (you can see part of why here). I hope if you are a mother, or have a mother or want to be a mother you honor this day!
